Swimming athletes achieve best ever results at the 7th Asian Swimming Championships

Hong Kong swimming athletes won 2 gold and 2 bronze medals at the 7th Asian Swimming Championships held on 3 - 10 March in Singapore.

Hannah Wilson won 2 gold medals in the women's 50m and 100m freestyle events, Suen Ka-yi won a bronze medal in the women's 50m breaststroke. The men's relay team comprising Eric Chan, Geoffrey Cheah, Cheung Siu-hang and Yee Hoi-ping won a bronze medal in the 4x100m freestyle relay. |

Squash athletes win 3 medals at the 13th Asian Squash Championships
|
Hong Kong squash athletes won 2 silver and 1 bronze medals at the 13th Asian Squash Championships held on 24 - 28 February in Taipei, Taiwan.
The squash team, comprising Chiu Wing-yin, Lau Siu-ying, Mak Pui-hin, and Ng Jia-yunn, won a silver medal in the women's team event. Chiu Wing-yin and Mak Pui-hin won a gold and bronze medal respectively in the women's singles event. |

HKSI Head squash coach Tony Choi and the girls' squash team named 'Coach of the Year' and 'Outstanding Team' by the Asian Squash Federations
|
The HKSI would like to congratulate HKSI Head Squash Coach Tony Choi and the girls' squash team, comprising Au Wing-chi, Chan Ho-ling, Chiu Ka-kei and Leung Shin-nga, for being named as the recipients of the ˇ§Coach of the Year Awardˇ¨ and the ˇ§Outstanding Team Awardˇ¨, respectively by the Asian Squash Federation, in recognition of their contribution and outstanding performance.
This is the second time Coach Choi has been awarded the honour, while it is the first Asian recognition for the girls' squash team.

Review of Coach Accreditation Programme
|
The Coach Accreditation Programme (CAP), organised by the Hong Kong Coaching Committee (HKCC) and sponsored by the Hongkong Bank Foundation, is a major local programme in nurturing quality coaches since its introduction in 1991.
The HKCC has recently conducted a comprehensive review of the CAP to ensure that the programme will take into account the latest coaching trends and developments. The new CAP curriculum aims to raise the overall quality of coaches and enhance their professionalism.

HKSI Spring Lunch

The HKSI hosted a Spring Lunch on 20 February at the Jubilee Room of the HKSI with over 50 NSA officials, the HKSI Board of Directors, the HKSI Management and Head Coaches attended. Dr Eric Li, Chairman of the HKSI, wished all guests a happy and prosperous Year of the Dog and attributed the outstanding achievements of HKSI's athletes to the cooperation between the NSAs and the HKSI. He also took the opportunity to thank the guests for their hard work in the past year helping athletes to achieve excellence in the international sporting arena. |

This new quarterly publication focuses on different areas of sports physiology relating to sports performance. Articles include original investigations, technical reports and case studies, reviews and invited commentary. Sports physiologists and other sports scientists will find it particularly useful.
