Local athletes recognised at Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards
|
Organised by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, the Samsung 2013 Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards Presentation Ceremony was held on 13 March to recognise local athletes for their remarkable performance in major international competitions in 2013. The HKSI congratulates all the winning athletes, and hopes that they will continue to achieve outstanding results for Hong Kong in the upcoming Asian Games and Asian Para Games.

HKSI fosters exchanges with sports community
|
The HKSI received a number of delegations and visitors in March to promote its work and Hong Kong’s athletes.
On 19 March, a delegation of the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union (HKRFU), led by Mr T Brian Stevenson SBS JP, President of the HKRFU and accompanied by the HKSI’s Chief Executive Dr Trisha Leahy, toured the elite training and support facilities on the HKSI premises to gain a better understanding of the elite sports development in Hong Kong. A tour of the HKSI was specially arranged for the media on the day, followed by a press conference where the Hong Kong rugby sevens teams shared their training at the HKSI and their preparation for the Hong Kong Sevens.
The HKSI was also paid visits by Mr Ravin Du Plessis, CEO of Hambantota Sports Club of Sri Lanka on 27 March, and a delegation of 22 Cross-Strait 4-Regions young sports reporters, led by Mr Chu Hoi-kun and Mr Raymond Chiu, Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Hong Kong Sports Press Association respectively, on 28 March. |

Lee Wai-sze encourages teachers and students of two universities
|
Cyclist Lee Wai-sze was invited as a guest speaker at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) on 7 and 17 March respectively. Lee encouraged students to set goals and to strive for excellence by sharing her success story. At the HKBU session, retired national gymnast Cheng Fei was also invited to share her inspiring story of how to overcome adversity and soar to new heights. |
