HKSI co-hosts Asian Federation of Sports Medicine (AFSM) Executive Committee Meeting

The Asian Federation of Sports Medicine  (AFSM) Executive Committee (ExCo) Meeting co-hosted by the HKSI and the Asian Federation of Sports Medicine (AFSM) was held on 11 January 2014, with over 20 ExCo members participating. Besides, four of the ExCo members were invited to give a lunch seminar on the topic "Sports Medicine Development in Asia - Meet the Masters". The ExCo meeting and lunch seminar provided an excellent exchange platform for sports professionals from Hong Kong and other Asian countries.

The AFSM is one of the multi-national continental federations under the supervision of the International Federation of Sports Medicine (FIMS).The main objective of the AFSM is to foster the promotion of sports medicine in Asia.


Financial Secretary visits HKSI

On 17 December 2013 the HKSI was paid a visit by The Hon John Tsang Chun-wah GBM JP, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Accompanied by the HKSI’s Chairman Mr Carlson Tong Ka-shing JP, Chief Executive Dr Trisha Leahy and senior management, Mr Tsang was taken on a tour of the HKSI’s premises, and met with athletes from different elite sports to learn more about the elite sports development and athletes’ training in Hong Kong. He was particularly interested in the elite training facilities and scientific support services on site, and the various demonstrations by scientific professionals and elite athletes. In addition, he encouraged Hong Kong athletes to continue to strive for excellence.

INAS representatives visits HKSI

President, Vice-Presidents and Sports Directors of the International Federation for Sport for Para-athletes with an Intellectual Disability (INAS) visited the HKSI on 14 December 2013. Mr Amaury Russo was impressed with the supporting services the HKSI provided to athletes with intellectual disabilities. He would encourage more teams to have exchange programme at the HKSI in the near future.

Yip Pui-yin officiates at Riverside Winwin Run

Shuttler Yip Pui-yin was invited by Activist Association to officiate at the ˇ§Riverside Winwin Run cum Charity Run for Activist Association 2013ˇ¨ with other guests on 15 December 2013. A record high of over 4,000 runners have enrolled in the activity, where they kept high morale during the run despite rain and cold weather.
