Secretary for Education and HKSSF delegation visit HKSI
|
A five-person delegation led by The Hon Eddie Ng Hak-kim SBS JP, Secretary for Education, visited the Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) on 24 April to understand athletes¡¦ educational needs and the elite training system at the HKSI. Accompanied by the HKSI¡¦s Chairman Mr Carlson Tong Ka-shing JP and Chief Executive Dr Trisha Leahy, the Secretary for Education toured the elite training facilities on site, and had a dialogue with elite full-time athletes to understand their daily life at the HKSI, and the challenges they faced in balancing elite training and education, personal and social development needs.
On 23 April, the HKSI greeted a 31-person delegation from the Hong Kong School Sports Federation (HKSSF) to exchange on school sports development and elite training. |

Shanghai Sports Institute delegation visits HKSI
|
Under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Shanghai Sports Institute (SSI) and the HKSI, an 18-member delegation from the SSI visited the HKSI on 19-30 May. During the visit, the group gained a good understanding of the strength training service provided by the HKSI to Hong Kong elite athletes through lectures and demonstrations presented by the HKSI's strength and conditioning coaches. The group was also introduced to sports facilities and other sport science services provided to the elite athletes. Through exchange programmes under the agreement, both institutes aimed to improve the professional standards in strength training in both mainland China and Hong Kong. |
