Assistant Public Affairs & Marketing Manager (Sponsorship & Athlete Promotion)

The Hong Kong Sports Institute Limited (“HKSI”) is the Government’s designated organisation to provide the high performance training system for eligible sports.  The HKSI’s mission is to provide an environment in which sports talent can be identified, nurtured and developed to pursue excellence in the international sporting arena benchmarked at Major Games results. We are now inviting suitable candidates for the following vacancy:

The Job

Reporting to the Public Affairs and Marketing Manager, the Assistant Public Affairs and Marketing Manager will be responsible for the following duties:

  • To assist in the formulation and implementation of plan and strategies related to Sponsorship, Athlete Promotion and Media Communications aiming to arouse the public/media attention to elite sports in Hong Kong, stimulate interest of sports talent to become elite athletes and pledge support of their stakeholders, the mass media, the commercial sector and the community as a whole and enhance Hong Kong’s status in the international arena;
  • To assist and provide professional advice to coaching and administrative departments and HKSI Scholarship Athletes related to public relations and sponsorship applicable to the fast-developing elite sport sector;
  • To handle commercial/ community enquiries and assist in corporate hospitality;
  • To handle enquiries from the public/ private sectors for supporting HKSI or its Scholarship Athletes;
  • To liaise with various departments of the organisation and scholarship athletes to understand their sponsorship assistance needs and support the sponsorship solicitation exercise for the organisation’s programmes, staff, coaches and scholarship athletes, by identifying cold call targets and conducting sponsorship sales/servicing activities;
  • To manage or assist in special projects e.g. marketing research, sponsorship training workshops for athletes, etc. and new initiatives from planning, promotion, to preparing evaluation and financial reports;
  • To prepare sponsorship proposals, agreements, etc.;
  • To maintain a computerised data bank for the provision of resources information and statistical data on sports sponsorship and related subjects, and;
  • To handle ad-hoc projects or perform any other appropriate duties as assigned by supervisor

 

The Requirements

  • A university degree in marketing, communication or a relevant discipline;
  • A minimum of 4 years’ relevant working experience;
  • Proven track record in handling collaboration opportunities, stakeholder/ sponsorship relations (liaison/proposals/agreements), talent management and customer service;
  • Prior talent promotion and branding experience preferable;
  • Knowledge in laws related to copyrights, privacy, equal opportunities and child protection;
  • Excellent writing skills in Chinese and English; fluent Cantonese, Mandarin and English;
  • Good communication and presentation skills;
  • Hands on experience in computer software applications including MS-Word, Excel, Chinese Word Processing and PowerPoint;
  • Analytical, multi-tasking, organized and meticulous;
  • Able to work under pressure and tight deadlines
