Scientific Assessment Assistant (英文版本)
The Hong Kong Sports Institute Limited (“HKSI”) is the Government’s delivery agent to provide the high performance training system for eligible sports. The HKSI’s mission is to provide an environment in which sports talent can be identified, nurtured and developed to pursue excellence in the international sporting arena benchmarked at Major Games results. We are now inviting suitable candidates for the following vacancy:
The Job
Reporting to the Assistant Sports Science Manager of the Scientific Conditioning Centre, the Scientific Assessment Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
- To conduct exercise testing;
- To assist in training monitoring on physiological response of athletes;
- To assist data interpretation and provide timely feedback to coaches and relevant parties;
- Ability to operate a range of lab equipment safely and to a high standard;
- To manage all data from training/competition into the central database
- To provide both local and overseas on-field support to elite sport teams;
- To assist data analysis and perform report writing;
- To assist in investigating new technology, assess it's validity and application to HKSI athletes, and report on it;
- To perform quality control and maintenance of testing equipment;
- To assist stock control and ordering of consumables;
- To assist in research projects; and
- To perform any other appropriate duties as assigned by supervisor.
The Requirements
- Applicants should have (1) at least 5 passes in HKCEE or 5 HKDSE subjects with at least Level 2 or equivalent, including English, Chinese and Mathematics; or (2) any post secondary qualification.
- A university degree in Sports Science or related disciplines is an advantage;
- A minimum of six months’ part-time experience in sports science or having been an athlete within a high performance system and exposed to applied sports science or research is an advantage;
- Good interpersonal and planning skills;
- Able to work irregular hours and perform under pressure;
- Holder of valid first aid, CPR and AED certificate;
- Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese. Ability to speak Putonghua is an advantage; and
- Awareness/ knowledge of Child Protection in sport and equal opportunity issues in the context of Hong Kong.
