Tier A & Tier B Sports

The list of sports currently supported by the HKSI is as follows:

Tier A

Criteria

Sports with EVSS score of 9 points or above

Current or recent Asian or Olympic Games sports

Level of Support

Funding for elite training programmes, dedicated coaching led by a Head Coach, full sports science and medicine support, and athlete development programmes

Athletes will receive Elite Training Grant

List of National Sports Associations

* Badminton, cycling, table tennis and windsurfing, whose athletes have consistently performed at the highest level and have the potential to achieve medals at the Olympic Games, were selected as Tier A* sports and receive additional resources for enhanced training programmes.

Tier B

Criteria

Sports with EVSS score between 6.5 and 9 points

All sports (including non- Asian and Olympic Games)

Level of Support

Funding and support level will be worked out with the respective NSAs depending on individual circumstances

Athletes will receive Elite Training Grant (for Asian and Olympic Games sports) or Sports Aid Grant (for non Asian and Olympic Games sports)
