Secondary Education Support

Introduction

To support the dual career development of student-athletes and facilitate their pursuit of both sporting and academic aspirations, the Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) has established the Partnership School Programme (PSP) and the Elite Athlete-friendly School Network. These initiatives aim to broaden educational opportunities and provide flexible learning pathways that accommodate the training and competition commitments of elite athletes.

Partnership School Programme

The Partnership School Programme (PSP) is a collaborative initiative between HKSI and its partner schools to support elite athletes pursuing full-time training while continuing their secondary education. Through the Programme, athletes are provided with flexible learning pathways that accommodate their training and competition commitments.

Recognising that each partner school has its own educational philosophy, curriculum structure and learning arrangements, the learning opportunities and support available may vary among schools. Collectively, the Programme seeks to provide flexible educational pathways that enable athletes to prioritise their training and competition commitments while continuing their academic progression.

Eligible athletes who are successfully enrolled in a PSP partner school may be considered for relevant education and athlete support measures in accordance with the prevailing policies and eligibility criteria of HKSI and the respective school.

Elite Athlete-friendly School Network

The HKSI has set up the Elite Athlete-friendly School Network in June 2014, to encourage Hong Kong secondary schools to provide enhanced support for talented athletes to pursue their sporting achievements while sustaining their academic goals.
Under the Network, the schools will do their best to facilitate student-athletes for enhanced education support including extra tutorials, make-up classes and flexible arrangements on study timetable, leave arrangements, examination schedules and other measures where appropriate.
A total of 48 schools have enrolled in the Network to date (Network School list at appendix).
We welcome more schools to join the Network to provide flexible and enhanced education support for elite athletes.
