Hong Kong Athletes Fund (HKAF)
This fund was established in 1996 to celebrate the achievements of Hong Kong athletes at the Atlanta Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Created to provide financial support towards the individual education programmes of current and retired elite athletes, and to offer financial support for retired athletes, the Fund was launched with a grant of HK$8 million from the Government and public donations of more than HK$5 million.
The HKAF is a key building block in preparing athletes for a very important future - theirs. It not only encourages gifted young athletes to commit themselves fully to their chosen sport, it also helps extend their sporting lives by ensuring that the necessities of family and other financial obligations are not allowed to become too much of a burden.
