KCRC Presents First Life-long Free Pass to Outstanding Medallists

In recognition of the Hong Kong elite athletes for their remarkable achievement at the Athens Olympics and Paralympics, the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) is pleased to announce today the presentation of life-long free pass to the medal winners at the two Games. A total of 14 life-long free tickets are awarded to the 14 medallists enabling them to travel free on East Rail, West Rail and Light Rail systems. Attending the ceremony held today at the Hong Kong Sports Institute to mark the presentation of the life-long free tickets are Mrs Grace Lam, General Manager – Corporate Affairs of KCRC; Mr Tommy Tam, Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Sports Institute; the representatives of the Hong Kong Table Tennis Association and the Hong Kong Sports Association for the Physically Disabled. Representatives of the medallists include the table tennis duo Mr Ko Lai Chak and Mr Li Ching at the Athens Olympics, as well as Ms Yu Chui Yee (wheelchair fencing) and Mr Leung Yuk Wing (boccia) of the Athens Paralympics. Hong Kong athletes have scored the first table tennis Olympic medal and a record high of 20 medals, including 11 gold, eight silver and one bronze medals, at the Paralympic Games. Mr Tommy Tam said "we appreciate KCRC's support to the elite athletes and the Hong Kong Sports Institute is very pleased to facilitate this sponsorship. With greater support from the commercial sector and the community, athletes can be more concentrated in their full-time training so as to pursue excellence in sports and bring glory for Hong Kong. We would like to pledge the continuous support of KCRC as well as other commercial organisations for the development of the Hong Kong elite athletes and sports in general". List of Medal Winners
