The HKSI is pleased to announce the appointment of the new Board of Directors for a two-year term from 1 April 2009 to 31 March 2011. Dr Eric Li Ka-cheung is reappointed as the Chairman of the HKSI, while Dr Tommy Tam Hok-lam and Mr Tang Kwai-nang are appointed as the Vice-Chairmen.
In addition, Dr Julian Chang Wai, Professor Frank Fu Hoo-kin, Ms Vivien Lau Chiang-chu, Mr Martin Liao Cheung-kong, Mr Carlson Tong, Mr Johnny Woo Wai-man, Mr Jonathan McKinley and Mr Vincent Liu Ming-kwong are reappointed as members of the HKSI Board.
Eight newly appointed Board of Directors include Dr Kenneth Chu Ting-kin, Mr Karl Kwok Chi-leung, Dr James Lam, Dr Hon Lam Tai-fai, Mr Matthias Li Sing-chung, Ms Winnie Ng, Mr Thomas Wu and Ms Lisa Yip Sau-wah.
Dr Eric Li paid tribute to former members for their dedication and enthusiasm in advancing sports development in Hong Kong over the past two years, and welcomed the partnership with the new Board of Directors.
“Crucial and challenging times lay ahead for the HKSI as the redevelopment has commenced this year. The HKSI’s mission is to work in partnership with the Government, the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, and the National Sports Associations, providing an environment in which sports talent can be identified, nurtured and developed to pursue excellence in the international sporting arena. To this end, I look forward to working with the new Board of Directors to strive for a new chapter for Hong Kong’s elite sports sector, assisting gifted athletes to excel at the upcoming Major Games, including the Shandong 2009 National Games, the Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games as well as the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games,” said Dr Li.
