All-round Elite Athlete Received Scholarship from the Beijing Sport University Degree Programme
In recognition of the outstanding achievements for the 2013-14 academic year, six students of the Bachelor of Education in Sports Training Programme (the Programme) were presented with scholarships totalling HK$30,000 on 21 October 2014. The scholarship recipients include the Athletics elite Tang Yik-chun (2nd row, 1st from left), who has also won a bronze medal at the recent Incheon Asian Games, demonstrating his excellence in both sports training and academic achievements. Following the presentation ceremony, Ms Margaret Siu, Director of High Performance Management of the Hong Kong Sports Institute (1st row, 2nd from left) and Mr Xu Gang, Associate Professor of the Beijing Sport University (1st row, 2nd from right), joined the awardees for a group photo to share their happiness. The Programme, which jointly commenced in 1999 by the Beijing Sport University and the Hong Kong Sports Institute, is Hong Kong’s first degree course in sports training. It aims to professionally develop sport-specific coaches and athletes, as well as to help provide quality coaches for Hong Kong sports. The Programme is a five-year course which consists of 25 modules comprising sports psychology, sports nutrition, statistics in sports, and administration in sports training. |
