The HKSAR Government has further enhanced its commitment to the development of sports in its latest Policy Address by the injection of an extra HK$1 billion into the Elite Athletes Development Fund.  The Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) thanks the Government for confirming the efforts of elite athletes in the past years and welcomes the undertakings of the Government.  The HKSI pledges to do its best to take elite sports development in Hong Kong to the next level.

The HKSI shared that the excellent results Hong Kong athletes accomplished at international competitions have boosted morale of the entire society.  The high-flying results could not be possible without the dedicated efforts of our elite athletes and their supporting teams, as well as the support of the Government and the community.  The provision of extra funding and sports facilities shows increasing community recognition to elite athletes, empowering them to make further advancement in the road to excellence.  The HKSI, as the delivery agent of the Government in elite athletes training, will continue to work hand-in-hand with its stakeholders to provide an environment in which elite athletes can be identified, nurtured, and developed to pursue excellence in the international sporting arena.
