Senior Sports Recovery Officer (Massage)
The Hong Kong Sports Institute Limited (“HKSI”) is the Government’s delivery agent to provide the high performance training system for eligible sports. The HKSI’s mission is to provide an environment in which sports talent can be identified, nurtured and developed to pursue excellence in the international sporting arena benchmarked at Major Games results. We are now inviting suitable candidates for the following vacancy:
The Job
Reporting to the Manager in the Sports Medicine Centre, the Senior Sports Recovery Officer(Massage) will be responsible for the following duties:
- To provide recovery services for scholarship athletes and to provide overseas on-field support;
- To assist in plan and implement the injury prevention and rehabilitation program;
- To liaise and plan with coaches and other technical support professionals on elite athletes’ recovery process;
- To assist training and supervising to the sports recovery officers;
- To plan and conduct research projects and educational programs for elite athletes and coaches, and
- To perform any other appropriate duties as assigned by senior staff.
The Requirements
- A university degree or equivalent in sports therapy, sports medicine or a relevant discipline, preferably a master degree in sports medicine related disciplines; or 12 years elite athletes services experience for applicants without equivalent academic qualifications;
- A minimum of 4 years’ sports relevant working experience for the degree holder, elite athletes services experience is a definite advantage;
- Able to work in irregular hours and work overseas;
- Excellent command of both spoken and written English. Ability to speak Cantonese and Putonghua is a definite advantage; and
- Awareness/ knowledge of Child Protection in sport and equal opportunity issues in the context of Hong Kong are an added advantage.
