At the 2019 Asian Open Short Track Speed Skating Trophy held in Kunming, China, the Hong Kong skating team brought home a total of 1 gold, 1 silver and 5 bronze medals. Skater Sui Xin won the senior men 500m gold and the 1500m bronze while Sidney Chu took the senior men 1000m silver. The two of them also partnered with Chan Ho-tung and Kwok Tsz-ho to capture a bronze medal in the men 5000m relay event.
