The Hong Kong athletics team excelled at the Asian Athletics Championships. This was their very first time to seize the champions in both men and women’s 4x100m relay. The men’s relay team Chan Yat-lok, Kwok Chun-ting, Chan Ting-fong James, Yip King-wai as well as Magnus Johannsson, set a new record of Hong Kong U20 with a time of 39.67 seconds.
Chan Yat-lok and Kwok Chun-ting also won the silver and bronze medal for the men’s 100m event. Moreover, Magnus Johannsson captured the silver medal and created another new peak in the event of men’s 200m with an impressive time of 20.92 seconds. For the women’s event, the relay team Cheung Yiu-gi Janice, Yip Man-yan, Tang Cheuk-man Serena, Pak Hoi-man Chloe as well as Wong Wan-chi clinched the champion for women’s 4x100m relay with the record 46.68s. Long jumper Jai Wan-yin also achieved an encouraging result and won a bronze in the women’s long jump with a mark at 6.13m.
The team Hong Kong captured 6th position of the award list, achieved a remarkable result with a record high ranking ever at the Asian Athletics Championships.
