The 2008 Hongkong Bank Foundation (HBF) Coaching Awards, the most prestigious Awards and the sole programme to recognise the achievements of coaches in Hong Kong on a territory-wide basis, invite nominations starting from today.

Organised by the Hong Kong Coaching Committee (HKCC) and funded by the HBF, the annual HBF Coaching Awards, since its inception in 1993, aim to pay tribute to the coaches for their dedication and contribution to athletes training and the overall sports development in the territory.

There are six categories of awards under the 2008 HBF Coaching Awards, namely Coach of the Year Awards, Distinguished Services Award for Coaching, Best Team Sport Award, Coach Education Award, Coaching Excellence Awards and Community Coach Recognition Awards. All National Sports Associations (NSAs) affiliated to the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) are welcome to submit nominations for the awards.

Amongst the Awards, Community Coach Recognition Awards aim to recognise local outstanding coaches who have made special contributions to the coaching of athletes/ teams. NSAs, District Sports Associations, Community Sports Clubs and other sports associations are welcome to submit their nominations for this category of award to honour coaches who have devoted to community sport development.

The HKCC, a joint committee of the SF&OC and the Hong Kong Sports Institute, was established in 1991 with an aim to formulate and implement short-term and long-term strategies for the development of coach education and accreditation programmes in Hong Kong.
