Seats Are Hot to Enjoy Sport Specialists Sharing their Preparations for 2012 Olympics at the Hongkong Bank Foundation Elite Coaches Seminar

Five professional sports science and management experts and coaches from China, Hong Kong, Japan and UK will talk about their "Preparation for Olympics" at the 19th Hongkong Bank Foundation (HBF) Elite Coaches Seminar to be held on 25 February at Regal Riverside Hotel, Sha Tin. Enrolment deadline is 10 February.

The speakers include Jiang Zhixue, General Director of Science and Education Department of General Administration of Sport of China. Jiang will elaborate the scientific support for enhancing the competitiveness of the China Olympic team through "Scientific Support to China National Team". Yao Zhengjie, Head Coach of Chinese National Swimming Team, will concentrate on "China Swimming Team's Preparation for the Olympic Games".

Shen Jinkang, Head Coach of the Hong Kong Cycling Team, who led Hong Kong to win 4 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze medals at the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games, will talk about how to nurture local cycling athletes to world class level and the preparation for the London Olympics under the topic: "The Road to World Champion and Olympic Success".

Takahiro Waku, Senior Director for Information and International Relations, Japan Sports Agency, will speak on "The Challenges of Japanese Elite Sport for the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games" from different perspectives. Peter Keen, Director of Performance of UK Sport, will share his experiences on how the 2012 Olympics host country is preparing its elite athletes and squads for medal-winning performances, and to explore the wider challenges of strategic approaches to developing the UK high performance systems under the theme "Preparing the Athlete, the Team and the Nation for the Olympics: Are the challenges the same?"

Jointly organised by the Hong Kong Coaching Committee (HKCC) and the All-China Sports Federation, the annual seminar invites sport professionals and coaches from different countries to share their expertise with Hong Kong sport enthusiasts on various coaching issues. Elite Coaches Seminar is part of the Hong Kong Coach Education Programme (HKCEP) which has been funded by the HBF with a total commitment of more than HK$26 million since 1992. Throughout the years, over 70,000 coaches have benefited from the training and recognition programmes of the HKCEP.
