HKSI Chairman Congratulates HK Delegation on Winning the Second Medal at the Tokyo Paralympic Games
Dr Lam Tai-fai SBS JP, Chairman of the HKSI, congratulated Hong Kong Delegation on winning the second bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games this morning.
Subsequent to the first bronze medal won by table tennis player Wong Ting-ting earlier, boccia player Leung Yuk-wing brought home another bronze medal from mixed BC4 individual event this morning. He started the game with a 4:0 lead and was chased tightly by Chinese opponent to 4:4 later. He managed to overcome pressure to seal a bronze medal for Hong Kong by 5:4. This is his fifth Paralympic medal and the second medal for Hong Kong Delegation at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
Dr Lam highly praised all athletes who participated in this year's Paralympic Games, saying that each of them not only overcame their own disabilities, but also prepared for the Games under the pandemic, which made it even more difficult. However, all athletes still performed at a high level and showcased their never-give-up spirit and determination. It was truly commendable and admirable. Special applause to Leung Yuk-wing who had participated in the Paralympic Games, the highest level sporting arena, for five times, and continued to bring medals to Hong Kong. His fighting spirit, perseverance and psychological qualities were really awe-inspiring.
Leung Yuk-wing will continue to compete for medal in the boccia pairs event tomorrow. In fact, Hong Kong athletes have performed their best in various competitions in the past few days, with some even finished in top eight, which is laudable. They will continue to do their best in the remaining events. May members of the public continue to root for them!
