The Importance of Sleep in Athletes

A brief overview of the science of sleep, understanding sleep cycles and what happens physiologically during REM and non-REM sleep. An overview of the latest research summarizing and highlighting the importance of sleep in athletes with regards to optimizing performance and reducing the risk of injury. The second half of the talk will focus on providing the audience with practical advice and useful tools on how to optimize their own sleep. Q & A session to conclude the talk.
