Understanding Mood Disorders: Depression and Anxiety

By Dr Lee Hing Chu

Recent statistics showed that 1 in 5 people in Hong Kong are affected by mood disorder. People with mood disorder may not only experience depression and anxiety but also other physical conditions like headache, insomnia, fatigue, unidentifiable pain. However, most people are not aware of their condition thus treatment and consultation are not started promptly. As sports professionals, it will be beneficial to learn and understand the basics about these conditions and pick up early symptoms so as to properly make referrals to other medical professionals. The speaker will first give a brief overview about mood disorders and then will go into more depth explaining depression and anxiety.
